Five-star prospect Caleb Holt committed to Arizona on Tuesday, choosing the Wildcats over five other teams.
Holt's commitment is huge for Arizona, which is expected to lose a big chunk of its current roster to graduation and the 2026 NBA Draft. The current team (29-2) is ranked No. 2 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll heading into the Big 12 conference tournament.
The 247Sports composite ranks Holt as the No. 1 shooting guard and the No. 4 overall player. Per the service, he is the No. 2 recruit in Wildcats history -- second only to Deandre Ayton, now of the Los Angeles Lakers -- and tops in the tenure of head coach Tommy Lloyd.
It is his relationship with Lloyd that led the 6-foot-5, 200-pound Holt to choose the Wildcats over Alabama, Arkansas, Houston, Kentucky and Providence, he told ESPN's 'First Take' on Tuesday. Lloyd was Holt's coach last summer with USA Basketball's U19 team.
'He took me under his wing. He saw my potential,' Holt told ESPN. 'He put me in games and believed in me and instilled a lot of confidence in me. Under pressure in the quarterfinals against Canada, the game was close and he did not blink at all; he stayed the same throughout the game. That showed me a lot about him.'
Holt grew up in Alabama but plays his high school basketball at Prolific Prep in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. His was the second commitment in the Wildcats' 2026 class, joining four-star guard Cameron Holmes from Millennium High School in Goodyear, Ariz.
The 247Sports composite lists Holmes as the No. 34 overall player in the class.
