The Buffalo Bills signed 12 undrafted free agents to their roster Friday as the team begins Rookie Minicamp this weekend. Here are some fast facts about each player.
The Bills signed six offensive players and six defensive players.
Akharaiyi started his collegiate career at Tyler JC in 2020-21 before heading to UTEP from 2022-23 and finishing at Mississippi State in 2024. In his lone season at Mississippi State he played in 11 games with seven starts in 2024.
On the year he had 25 receptions for 391 yards and two touchdowns. Akharaiyi finished third on the team in receptions and third in yards, in SEC only games he ranked 8th in yards per catch (17.1) and was 1 of 18 SEC players with a 2+ touchdown game. He attended MacArthur High School in Irving,Texas and is of Nigerian descent.
Gosnell split his collegiate career at UNC (2020-21) and Virginia Tech (2022-24). He played in all 13 games, starting 10 for the 2024 season where he recorded 28 receptions for a team-leading 506 yards and a touchdown and averaged 18.1 yards per catch.
His brother, Benji, is a tight end on the Virginia Tech roster. Gosnell attended East Surry High School in Pilot Mountain, North Carolina.
Presley spent four years (2021-24) of his collegiate career with Baylor. Across those four years, Presley played in 39 games and caught 81 passes for 1,048 yards and 7 TDs. He recorded at least one reception in 30 games.
He attended Mansfield Summit High in Arlington, Texas.
Latu, who finished his career at Washington, joins fellow Huskies Taylor Rapp and Edefuan Ulofoshio in Buffalo. He attended both Nevada (2023) and California (2021-22) before transferring to Washington (2024).
Latu played in all 13 games in 2024 and recorded 40 receptions for 371 yards and a touchdown.
Bayer finished his college career at Arkansas State (2023-24) after beginning his college career with Lamar University (2021-22). He became the ninth all-time Arkansas State player to compete in the Senior Bowl.
Bayer started the final 12 games of the 2024 season and finished as the top-rated center in the conference and top five nationally earning second team all-conference recognition. He is from Grandview, Texas
Split his college career between Cal (2024) and Montana State (2020-23). Started in 11 games in 2024 and played in 12, helping block for an offense that ranked 27th in the country in sacks allowed.
His last name is pronounced RHYME-er and he attended Camas High School in Camas, Washington.
Owens spent time at two different universities during his collegiate career. The safety attended Yale for five years before transferring to New Hampshire for his final season. Owens overlapped with one of Buffalo's recent draft picks, tight end Jackson Hawes, from 2019-23 at Yale.
During his time at Yale and New Hampshire, Owens played in 42 games and totaled 20 passes defensed, two interceptions, one touchdown, 16.5 tackles for loss and 276 total tackles. In 2023, the safety was a team captain for Yale, was named to the Phil Steele Ivy League First Team and earned All-Ivy First Team. He also earned All-Ivy First Team in 2022. Owens is from Cooksville, Maryland.
Porter played for West Virginia and Miami during his collegiate career. The cornerback spent his first two seasons at West Virginia before transferring to Miami for his final three. Porter played in 49 games and started in 35 throughout his career. He totaled 19 passes defensed, one interception and 108 tackles at West Virginia and Miami.
Porter has ties to the NFL. He is the son of Daryl Porter who played for the Bills from 1998-2000. The former safety spent five seasons in the NFL and was drafted by the Steelers in 1997. Porter is from Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Jenkins spent his entire five-year career at Virginia Tech. The former Hokie played at the star position in college but will be a linebacker on Buffalo's roster.
Throughout his five years, Jenkins played in 57 games and totaled 21.5 tackles for loss, three interceptions, 12 passes defensed, four forced fumbles, two and a half sacks and 182 total tackles. He is from Jacksonville, Florida.
Shand played for Arizona and LSU during his collegiate career. The defensive end spent three years with Arizona before transferring to LSU. Shand played in 49 games and made 19 starts during his five-year career. He accumulated nine sacks, 14.5 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and 82 total tackles.
Sand isn't just an exceptional football player; he also saw lots of success in basketball. The defensive end was a member of Canada's U16 National Team in 2017 and won a silver medal at the FIBA U16 Americas Championship in Argentina. He is from Toronto, Ontario.
Harris spent time at UCLA and Montana during his collegiate career. The defensive end started at UCLA before transferring to Montana for his final two seasons.
Harris saw lots of success in 2024 as he was named to the All-Big Sky second team, earned Team Defensive MVP, the Sims-Miller Award for outstanding D-lineman and Academic All-American honors. The DE recorded nine and a half sacks, 17 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, one interception and 52 total tackles in his final season with Montana. Harris played in 32 games during his collegiate career. He is from Mill Creek, Washington and his mother is from Regina, Saskatchewan.
Brandt-Epps played for Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, Old Dominion and New Mexico during his collegiate career. The DT played three seasons at Old Dominion, one at NEO and one at New Mexico.
He collected 8.5 tackles for loss at NEO (2020), 11.5 tackles for loss and three sacks at ODU (2021-23) and 29 total tackles at New Mexico (2024). He is from Muskogee, Oklahoma.
