Coffee helps cardiovascular health! Studies have shown that people who drink coffee have a lower stroke rate; people who drink coffee have an approximately 8% lower stroke rate than those who don't drink coffee.
Taipei, Taiwan (Merxwire) - International Coffee Day is on October 1st! Every year from the end of September to the beginning of October, various chain coffee brands will offer discounts, forming a business opportunity. In recent years, office workers have liked to use coffee to refresh their minds or relax, and research has found that coffee has health benefits and helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
Is coffee good for cardiovascular? Lung Chan, a neurology physician at Shuang-Ho Hospital in Taiwan, and his team conducted statistics and analysis on seven international documents. The results showed that coffee drinkers have a lower risk of stroke; compared to non-coffee drinkers, coffee drinkers The risk of stroke was reduced by 8%. The research was published in "BMC Neurology."
The research team first collected 130 international documents and selected 7 studies for comprehensive analysis. Seven studies were included, and all of them were large-scale, long-term, follow-up cohort studies of a healthy population. Then, Selected 2.4 million subjects without a history of stroke tracked their usual coffee drinking habits to analyze the rate of strokes.
Data analysis results show that drinking 450 to 600 ml of coffee (mostly black coffee) a day can reduce the risk of stroke by about 8%. In addition, the protective power of drinking coffee against ischemic stroke is more significant than that of hemorrhagic stroke. However, Dr. Lung Chan explained that although drinking coffee is associated with a reduced risk of stroke, it cannot be used as a medicine or health product.
There are also many international studies showing the health benefits of coffee. In 2012, a study published in the "Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry" showed that there are three compounds in coffee, including caffeine, Caffeic acid, and Chlorogenic acid. They seem to hinder the accumulation of toxicity of a certain protein from reducing Type 2 diabetes risk.
A study published in the "British Medical Journal" in 2017 showed that drinking coffee can reduce the risk of Alzheimer's disease. However, this survey study may affect the relevant survey data as the tester's age, weight, and lifestyle changes, so the researchers pointed out that in-depth research is needed in the future to provide a complete survey report.
In 2021, according to a study published in "AHA journal Circulation: Heart Failure," drinking more than two cups of coffee a day can reduce the risk of heart failure by about 30%. The study found that compared with all other dietary factors, the correlation between drinking coffee and reducing the risk of heart failure was more prominent.
Although drinking coffee has some benefits, you should not drink too much. Especially for pregnant women, if you drink more than 4 cups of black coffee a day during pregnancy, it may put the baby at risk of being underweight, premature delivery, or stillbirth. Some patients with special diseases should also discuss the matter of drinking coffee with their doctors to prevent coffee from damaging their health.
